Brian Hyland는 1943년 미국 뉴욕 퀸스에서 태어났다.
60년대초에 아이돌 가수로 팬들의 많은 주목을 받았지만 1969년에 발표한 앨범[Tragedy A Million To one(160위)]과

1971년에 발표한 [Brian Hyland(171위)] 2장의 앨범만 낮은 순위로 빌보드 앨범차트에 진입했기 때문에 그는 사실상

1960년대 메이저 스타는 아니었다.

9살때부터 교회합창단에서 노래를 부르기 시작한 그는 클라리넷과 기타를 배웠으며 1959년 지역 하모니 그룹에서 활동했다.
16세 되던 해에 Kapp 레코드사와 계약하고 1960년 당시 미국의 해변가를 강타한 서프 문화를 주제로 만든 'Itsy Bitsy

Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka dot Bikini'라는 곡으로 빌보드 싱글차트 1위에 오르며 십대들의 스타가 되었다. 

1962년 그의 대표곡 'Sealed With A Kiss'를 다시 히트시키면서 미국과 영국 싱글차트에서 3위를 차지했다.
이 곡은 1962년 18세에 불러 빌보드 싱글차트 3위를 차지하면서 하이틴 스타로 일약 스타덤에 올랐다.
'Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini'는 16세이던 1960년 당시 미국의 해변가를 강타한 Surf 문화를 주제로 만든 곡으로 빌보드 싱글차트 1위에 오르며 십대들의 스타가 된 Brian Hyland 최고의 히트곡이다.
