Boney M. - Rasputin

Boney M은 독일 출신의 인기 프로듀서였던 프랭크 패리언(Frank Farian)에 의해 1975년 결성되었다.
보니엠의 탄생은 그들의 독보적인 인기 만큼이나 특별한 것이었다.

1975년 당시 TV 시리즈의 음악을 담당했던 프랭크는 트렌디한 프로듀싱 감각으로 직접 곡을 쓰고 스튜디오 뮤지션들을 

동원해 흑인 수사물에서 착안한 Boney M이라는 이름으로 그 음악들을 발표했다.

그런데 예상 외로 실험적인 삽입곡 "Baby, Do You Wanna Bump"가 폭발적인 반응과 함께 단 시간에 인기가 치솟았다.
문제는 보니엠이 가상의 밴드인 관계로 대중에게 보여줄 실체가 없었다는 점이다.

프랭크는 신속하게, 그러나 신중하게 오디션을 진행하여 치열한 경쟁을 뚫고 리즈 미첼(Liz Mitchell)을 리드 보컬로 하는 자메이카 출신의 4인조 블랙그룹을 조직하기에 이르렀다.
'Rasputin'은 1978년 발표된 3번째 앨범에 수록된 곡으로 영국 싱글챠트 2위에 올랐다.
